Forensics for grades 5th & Up

    This five-week middle school forensics course offers students an engaging introduction to the fascinating world of forensic science. Through a blend of interactive activities, case studies, and hands-on experiments, students will explore key topics such as crime scene management, DNA analysis, fingerprinting, and toxicology. Each week focuses on different aspects of forensics, encouraging critical thinking and observation skills while allowing students to investigate a mock crime scene and analyze evidence like real forensic experts. By the end of the course, students will have a solid foundation in chemistry and biology forensic principles and techniques, fostering an appreciation for the role of science in solving crimes. We will also have a guest speaker come and talk about real-life crime fighting.

Marine Science for grades 7-12

  • Location: Kairos Learning Solutions

    This 5 week course begins on February 6th.

    10:00am-12:00pm on Fridays

    For this five-week course, we will be covering a range of topics in marine science. We will begin with an introduction to the topic and cover the main ecosystems and their characteristics. The second week, we will learn the basics of physical oceanography, including currents, tides, and waves. We will continue this unit by talking about marine organisms and highlighting some of the common fauna in Monterey Bay and beyond. Next, we will cover some of the most important organisms in marine ecosystems, the primary producers! To finish the unit, we will learn about human impacts and techniques for marine data collection.

    As a marine biologist and scientific diver, I am excited to share my passion for the ocean and dive into some fun learning and activities to spark interest and enhance engagement with the topics.

February 28: Egg Drop Engineering for all ages

    Put your engineering skills to the test in this fun, family-friendly community event! Students will have 1 hour to design and build a protective “safety gear” system for their egg, then 30 minutes for the big Egg Drop to see whose creation survives the fall. Winners will be selected!

    $15 per student (includes build kit). Bring the whole family to watch and cheer!

Agriculture for grades 5th & Up

    Join us on an educational journey that explores the intricate relationship between agriculture, the environment, and sustainable practices.
    In this dynamic course, students will delve into the fundamental principles of agriculture, gaining insights into topics such as crop cultivation, livestock management, and agricultural technologies. Through interactive lessons and hands-on activities, participants will learn about the importance of soil health, water conservation, and biodiversity in sustainable agriculture practices.
    But our exploration doesn't stop there. Students will also examine the broader impact of agriculture on our environment, including topics such as climate change, pollution, and habitat loss.

    Design, build, and bring robots to life in our 5 week Robotics Course hosted at Kairos Learning Solutions!

    Designed for students ages 5 through 5th grade, this hands-on class introduces kids to the engineering design process as they create, test, and improve robots. Students will tackle fun, age-appropriate challenges that build problem-solving skills, creativity, and teamwork while learning real-world engineering concepts.
